Task 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think the distributors for Presence would be a low budget British film institution; this is partly due to the lack of special effects and technical equipment that will be needed. We want to keep Presence looking as simplistic as possible, as a key aim of ours is to not attract the viewers attention from the mysterious atmosphere surrounding the film and to keep them in suspense at all times. Choosing to keep effects simple makes Presence stand out and come across as a more traditional British horror film. High budget Hollywood films, such as universal would not consider Presence as an investment as it lacks high quality effects and would not be likely to be viewed at big name cinemas.
Another contributing factor toward a British film institution distributing our film is the setting in which the picture takes place. We have chosen an area in the remote Surrey countryside to bring across the sense of abandonees that is also to be replicated within the house. The secluded countryside aspect is key to our film and we would hate it to get drowned and push aside by American money. Filming entirely within the house will also enable us to save funds as no elaborate settings or studio time will be necessary.
The two actors in Presence are unknown, meaning less money would be needed for their fees. This also applies for the backstage crew, as do not think it is necessary for the film to have employers with outstanding previous experience. Our reason for this is that we want to introduce new British talent into the industry. Another money saver is to have a small a number of production crew as possible; this differs from a high budget Hollywood film, which has many more areas that contribute to the production process.
I believe that a low budget British film institution would be the best way to fund the production Presence, such as the national lottery of film four as it will enable us to keep originality, give a strong sense of setting and hopefully give us a larger profit margin due to the more simplistic methods used.
