We filmed the mug shots in front of a green screen then opened the footage in after effects this was also a lot easier than i thought. First we had to keylight the footage (the green screen background), so it recognises the colour, this made the green screen turn invisible then we simple found a police line up picture and put it behind the girls. This allowed us to have the girls play to camera, connecting them to the audience and adding an extra location without filming in one.

Special Effects.
The wipe used at the start and end of the video was created on final cut pro and was simple to create using video transactions and oval iris. The old fashioned movie style effect gives it a scence of style and time effectively and establishes from the very start what the audience should be expecting.

The editting process
First we uploaded all the footage shot on the day on to the system in the edit suite and put the footage in separate bins, as follows, club, police line up, chair dance, prison couples dance, prison and murders. This helped us organise each file and allowed us to easily find footage at a latter process. The foundation of our video was one wide shot which we muted and synced up with a high quality audio of the track itself. This wide shot featured the whole performance in the jazz club, we went through it discarding sections which we disliked for example if it looked visually messy or if the lipsinking was incorrect. We used markers to help us throughout the process, the markers, do just what you would expect, mark a timing in the footage that you want to note, e.g when cuts are needed. We then followed this pattern with footage shot at medium and then close up. It was important to make sure we never cut from a wide to close to wide again as this has an odd effect and is not fluid. We then looked at the single performances of each of the girls and added this to the wide, medium and close ups in the club. It was also important that the lipsinking was perfect for the single performers footage as we want the audience to see the girls performing at their best and showing that they can perform live.
We then added the next footage of the other main narrative, the prison footage, like the club we edited shots at different angles giving us extra dynamic, this footage fitted well to part of the music with lyrics as the girls were only singing and not dancing. We then focused on the main dance break session, we put in lots of shots from different angles which were all cut together quickly, giving the sequence pace and matching the music and the break away from the usual footage. One problem we came against in this section was that the footage would sometimes move along the timeline making it unsynced from the track, it was difficult to put this footage back in the right place afterwards as there was no lip syncing to compare it to. To prevent this we had to make sure to remember to lock each level when we were not working on it.
On the shoot day we fitted the girls and the prison officers dance sequence to a section of the music which fit into three sections, we edited all three dances with a quick pace result giving a stylist look. However at a later date we realised that we had shot the footage on the track showing Sabrina walking down the thrust to the same part of the music. To resolve this problem we inttercut throughout the couples dance section back and forth to the tracking shot of Sabrina. This worked well however we were disappointed that the majority of dance cut was from Nico's section as this was the exact same time as when Sabrina walked down the thrust and it was essential to have this in the video or else It would have been seen that Sabrina magically appeared at the end of the stage.
Next we added the murders, on shoot day we did not have enough time to film all of them and we were intending to use them in a quick montage showing that the girls have performed multiple murders, instead we had each murder victim feature for a longer amount of time in the video intercutting it with a close up of one of the girls. This suggests to the audience if they had not already worked it out that they are the murders.
We then moved on to the special effects.......
